Photo Presents (2014) C-type prints, variable sizes.

Bearing on the questions of ownership, access, and emotional, physiological and cultural value around the apparatus of a family archive I developed the Photo Presents. This project aims to unveil the significance of the images not only based on their visuality, as evidence of identity and as devises for memory but also based on their materiality as objects that are created, manipulated, circulated, transported, relocated, stored and even in some cases dispersed. Photo Presents employs portraits from my family archive that have been at some point in the past exchanged between family members. In the Photo Presents the image and the handwritten notes on the back of the print amalgamate to produce a new document that has the exact size as the initial print.
