About me 

My practice focuses on photographic archives, memory, postmemory and trauma. Drawing upon my Armenian ancestry, I explore the materiality of photography and its use as a referent that bares witness to the Genocide and Diaspora. 

I earned my PhD from Central Saint Martins, UAL (2018) with a Scholarship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and my MA in Photography from the same college. In 2015, I was a research fellow at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC (AHRC International Placement Scheme Fellowship), and I returned at the Library in 2016 to participate at a Workathon. My work has been exhibited widely including the Kochi Muziris Biennale, India, the CRASSH Research Centre of Cambridge University, the Christie’s, and the Pingyao International Photography Festival,China. My work has been shortlisted and nominated amongst others for: the annual Print exhibition of the Royal Photographic Society, Nova Award, Future Map, the British Federation for Woman Graduates Doctoral Award and selected for the Photomonitor commendation and Photoworks Showcase. I have presented my research work in numerous international conferences on photography and I have lectures in photography departments in international universities.
